Commentary:Help Pakistan move on
Thestar.com comments in its editorial (Help Pakistan move on) that President Pervez Musharraf's unhappy era will soon be over. The paper writes that Pakistan will have a new, broad-based government led by democrats.
I think paper’s assessment of Musharraf era is wrong. There is no doubts he did many unconstitutional moves to stay in power. He had no choice. All the elected members from Sind, Punjab, Balochistan and NWFP are corrupt to the core. They wanted certain concessions from him for their support. He gave these concessions to carry out his plans.
The paper has called them democrats. I must remind it that during the rules of Benazir and Nawaz thousands of Urdu speaking people were killed in Karachi and Hyderabad. I urge paper to investigate about the personal lives of these so-called democrats. They will find them tyrants.
